Why Shade Sails Are Perfect For Outdoor Playgrounds

Letting children enjoy their childhood while also making sure they are safe is the prime motive behind most parental decisions. Schools and daycare centres also mimic this in their programs, and while the right choice is easy in most situations, sometimes there are more tricky decisions that you need to balance. For example, most children love running around in the playground, but ensuring that they don't get burnt or otherwise affected by the sun is very hard, especially since sunscreen wears off so quickly and children are notorious for taking off hats and other protective equipment. That is why shade sails are an absolute must for every outdoor playground.
What Are Shade Sails?
You have most likely seen shade sails in some form or another in many backyards or outdoor spaces. They are a simple piece of heavy plastic (sometimes special fabrics) that is strung between multiple poles above outdoor areas so that it blocks the sun. Most commonly found in triangular shapes, shade sails derive their names by looking like the sail of a ship, although on its side. They are often specifically made to ensure that they block out UV rays to keep children safe and allow them to play as long as they want with minimal risk.
Why Not Just A Regular Roof?
The benefit of shade sails is that they are appropriate for virtually every outdoor setting. They can fit in much smaller spaces than traditional buildings, and they also don't require as much effort to set up. Perhaps the biggest benefit of shade sails is that they still provide the feeling of being outside without the risk of exposure. Children love experiencing the wind and gentle breezes that come with playing outside, and more structural rigid coverings can block that out and make your child feel like they are still inside.
Not Just Safe From The Sun!
Shade sails are also treated to ensure they can block the rain as well as the sun. While you will have to angle it properly so no water leaks onto the playground area, shade sails can provide the shelter you need to still allow children to play on the playground while raining. At the very least, you will have a few minutes to gather them all inside so they are not completely soaking wet from a surprise storm. Shade sails are a great insurance policy against both sun and rain and are an absolute must for every outdoor playground.
