Indicators of It Being Time to Enlist the Services of a Cabinet Maker
Posted on: 26 July 2019
You may not pay much attention to your kitchen's cabinets, but these structures play a critical role in your sanity in the kitchen as well as your culinary endeavours. Without your cabinets, the entire kitchen will be a cluttered mess that would be challenging to accomplish anything in, not to mention the visual appeal that the cabinets add to this space!
But like most other structures that are used daily, your cabinets are bound to degrade over time. And if you moved into a house with stock cabinets, it is likely that you have never enjoyed them in the first place! If you are unsure if you need to upgrade your cabinets with custom joinery, here are a couple of indicators of it being time to enlist the services of professional cabinet makers.
The cabinets have suffered water damage
Water damage is an issue that most homeowners assume that will not happen in their home. However, your kitchen is one of the foremost culprits of this problem! With all the plumbing that runs through your kitchen, one leak or clog could translate into a disaster. If you have recently been exposed to flood damage in the kitchen or perhaps you never have but found the cabinets already in your home.
It is advisable to inspect them for possible moisture ingress. Some of the signs to keep your eye out for include jamming of the doors, warping, stained spots, mould and unusual odours. Instead of trying to repair the cabinets, you should replace them altogether by investing in custom joinery.
The cabinets look outdated
In some instances, needing to change out your cabinets may not be obvious. You may be tolerating your current cabinets because you need them, yet you do not have any sense of joy when you see them. If this is true, then that is the sign you need to enlist the services of a custom cabinet maker. Perhaps you move into an older home that is characterised by its archaic interior style. Or, maybe you had cheap cabinets installed years past because of money being tight, and they simply do not complement your kitchen.
Whatever the negative emotion you associate with them, it is definitely time to upgrade to more attractive cabinetry. Take note that while the cabinets may simply be old but seem functional, it is only a matter of time before the hardware starts to come apart, so it is best to get ahead of it by installing custom joinery!
